The purpose of this site is to provide information to people
interested in the Jitterbug phone, by
Samsung (SPH-A120). The Jitterbug service and concept come from
Great Call Inc., with the founders being Marty Cooper and Arlene
Harris.
Martin Cooper is said to be the father of personal mobile
communications, in other words cell phones. Remember those big
brick like cell phones? The ones that could only run for 30 minutes
on a full charge, the ones that cost $4000 at the time back in
1983? Those original cell phones were because of Marty. Car phones
were already in existence, briefcase sized and hidden in the trunks
with a wire that ran to a large house phone sized set in the front
of the car. But Marty shrunk all of that down into a handset and
now just about everyone has a mobile phone.
